Sunshine glinted
harshly off her feet.
So still, toenails
painted a darker shade of red,
Contrasting with
near-bloodless skin
So still
The breeze could not
move them, nor the sun
Kiss any color into
the pale
A lonesome insect,
chasing a dream,
Wandered desolately
across the delicate arch
Over the ridge of
each distinct toe
Not a flinch
disturbed him as he traveled along
At length he flew
off
Abandoning those
lifeless limbs
While the birds sang
their eulogy
And the forest kept
its secret
