An Homage to My Dad: Saturday Mornings, 1981

With a low growl, he enters the room like a bear torn from hibernation. Eyes still half-closed, he grumbles and stumbles his way toward the scent of coffee. Ah, but what's this? Another aroma, promising sustenance to the hungry beast. On a platter, like sacrifices strewn before a pagan god, lay six donuts, their frosting pristine and untouched. With savage voracity, he lunges for this new prey, grabbing two and promptly severing the first pieces into a carnage of pastry and sugar.
